Science & FAQs
the Science
There is no one-off fix for male pattern baldness; it is an ongoing process. It can be treated. Unthin prescribes treatment sprays and a daily capsule to your stage after a short online consultation, and your pharmacist will tell you what to expect for where you are.
No. Unthin treatments are prescribed for male pattern hair loss only. If you are looking for products suitable for women, please visit www.volyoume.co.uk
Yes. We are a pharmacy registered with the GPhC. The short questionnaire consultation will ensure your suitability for our Treatment Spray; checking any allergies and other factors which may mean the treatment is not suitable for you. Unthin subscribers also have access to a dedicated Pharmacist who will answer any queries or concerns at any point during the treatment schedule.
Unthin is a GPhC-registered pharmacy dedicated to men with androgenic alopecia. Your formula is prescribed to your stage rather than sold off the shelf, and a specialist team is available to support you throughout: you can contact them at any time to ask about your treatment, how to use it, and what to expect.
Unthin treatments are only available via this website; this means that our clinical team are able to check your suitability for the treatment and provide appropriate after care. Most male pattern baldness treatments are only available through private prescription.
An unlicensed medicine can be defined in several ways: - A medicine that is formulated in an alternative version to the licensed medicine (e.g., a oral medication made into a topical liquid formulation, or a medication made in a different strength to the original licensed version). - A medicine that has no licence at all. - A medicine that has a licence in other countries, but not the UK. Unthin treatments are unlicensed medicines, prepared by our GPhC-registered pharmacy to your prescription. Full ingredient, dosage and safety information is supplied with your medicine.
The hair growth cycle
the Products
Apply the Treatment Spray to the most affected areas first, then massage across the whole scalp. Six sprays, twice a day, on a dry scalp. Full instructions come with your medicine.
While hair transplants may appear like the be all and end all solution, they are not as permanent as they sound. A transplant moves hair; it does not stop ongoing pattern loss elsewhere, which is why clinics prescribe a topical treatment afterwards. Tell the pharmacist about your transplant in the questionnaire so it is taken into account.
Hair grows in cycles, so treatment is measured in months, not weeks. Male pattern hair loss is ongoing, so treatment is maintenance rather than a one-off fix. Your pharmacist will tell you what to expect for your stage and when to check in, and you can pause or cancel from your account at any time.
Our Treatment Spray is applied through six sprays, twice daily, then massaged into the scalp. The Daily capsule is taken once a day. Full instructions come with your medicine.
The Treatment Spray is odourless and non-greasy, meaning it won’t affect your look.
